Web Session "Macro-Level Actuarial Reserving" on 28/29
October 2021,
9:00-17:00 and 9:00-12:30 CEST
Early Bird discount until tomorrow!

|
|

|
Actuarial reserving is one of the core activities of many
actuaries, and crucial to any well-functioning insurance company.
Typically, macro-level models are used for this task, which are
triangle-based models that provide estimate of the expected value
and/or the variance of the open reserve on a portfolio level.
Hence, a proper understanding of these models is vital.
In this web training a detailed overview is provided of the
aforementioned models and during the practical sessions, R code is
provided on how to implement most of the discussed topics, hereby
rendering the participants completely autonomous after the web
session.
During the training however, even if practical sessions will be
organized, the main focus will be on the theory.
Your early-bird registration fee is € 450.00 plus 19% VAT until 16
September 2021. After this date, the fee will be € 585.00 plus 19%
VAT.

Web Session "Professionalism Plus - Ethics for Enhanced
Professionalism (2 days)" on 2 & 9 November 2021, 9:30-17:00
CET
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Ethics is the foundation of professionalism. Ethical behaviour
is not just about creating better outcomes but it is also about
creating a market where those outcomes can be appropriately
rewarded. It is about behaviour that is good for the professional,
their employer, their clients, and for society at large.
In today's competitive commercial world, everybody is looking for
an edge and it can easily be forgotten that the best route to
success is to become a professional of worth and value. The aim of
this course is to give you a sound theoretical basis and a
practical wherewithal to become the professional you want to
become.
Your early-bird registration fee is € 550.00 plus 19% VAT until 21
September 2021. After this date, the fee will be € 715.00 plus 19%
VAT.

Web Session "Long-Term Care Insurance Living Benefits: Risk
Profiles" on 5 November 2021, 10:00-12:00 CET
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Life annuities are aimed at providing income and, notably,
post-retirement income. In the context of health insurance,
long-term care insurance (LTCI) products conversely aim at
protection against the risk of senescent disability. Technical and
financial features of the above products might negatively impact
their attractiveness, from both the customer's and the insurer's
perspective. Nonetheless, appropriate combinations of benefits can
result in more attractive policy designs. As LTCI products are
rather recent, scarcity of data and data quality cause a
significant exposure to the uncertainty risk inherent in the choice
of the biometric bases. A sensitivity analysis then allows us to
quantify, for diverse products, the degree of exposure to this
risk.
In this web session, we first describe the basic features of
long-term care insurance products which provide living benefits,
that is lifelong or term annuities. We then present and discuss the
numerical results of a sensitivity analysis aimed at assessing the
exposure of diverse products to the risk caused by uncertainty in
the biometric assumptions.
Your early-bird registration fee is € 100.00 plus 19% VAT until 24
September 2021. After this date, the fee will be € 140.00 plus 19%
VAT.

Web Session "Longevity Heterogeneity and Pension Schemes"
on 10 November 2021, 10:00-12:00 CET
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The objective of this web session is to address the effect of
longevity heterogeneity on the design of pension schemes,
especially for social security mechanisms. We first present
different figures showing the socio economic gap in terms of life
expectancy. Then we evaluate the effect of such inequalities on
traditional pension plans and illustrate some regressive aspects.
Finally, we present different possible mechanisms in order to
compensate partially or totally these effects (individualized
retirement age, individualized annuity rates, progressive formula,
two tier approaches…).
Your early-bird registration fee is € 100.00 plus 19% VAT until 29
September 2021. After this date, the fee will be € 140.00 plus 19%
VAT.

Web Session "Practical Machine Learning Applications in
Finance & Insurance" on 12 November 2021, 9:00-12:00 CET
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
We begin from the scratch and introduce machine learning
techniques step by step: To start with, we give an overview of this
interesting field with the primary focus on several techniques such
as neural networks, among others. The key for an efficient
application is the way of training machine learning algorithms and
thus we focus our attention on this optimization as well. We
strengthen our learned knowledge by focusing on several case
studies: We consider an example within the Solvency II context such
as implementing an internal model to calculate the Solvency Capital
Requirement (SCR), but also applications to financial market such
as option pricing by Monte Carlo methods or trading strategies.
During our complete web session we learn how the introduced
algorithms can be implemented so that the participants are able to
build up their own use cases in Python at the end. A vital part of
this web session is the group work to get familiar with the
implementation.
Your early-bird registration fee is € 150.00 plus 19% VAT until 1
October 2021. After this date, the fee will be € 205.00 plus 19%
VAT.

Web Session "Mathematical Modelling for Actuaries" on 22/23
November 2021, 9:00-17:00 CET
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Actuaries are very experienced in modelling financial risks
either stemming from population dynamics or from random events.
Probability theory and statistics is their daily bread. But there
are many other phenomena out in the world without having a direct
financial impact but should be understood by actuaries as well.
This web session is about models which typically are not covered in
full by actuarial exams, but which could bring better insights to
risks actuaries have to price. We will cover models from many
different areas, whether it is medicine, construction, meteorology,
biology or others. Of course, this web session can only give some
examples of typical models and type of models, but it should enable
participants to find more in literature or develop their own
ideas.
Your early-bird registration fee is € 600.00 plus 19% VAT until 11
October 2021. After this date, the fee will be € 780.00 plus 19%
VAT.

Web Session "Advanced Concepts of Clustering in Insurance"
on 25 November 2021,
9:00-12:00 CET
The course shows how different algorithms can be used to obtain
a segmentation of insurance data. The methods covered range from
centroid-based (k-means, k-prototypes) to probabilistic (Gaussian
Mixture Models) and density-based (DBSCAN) approaches. We
demonstrate how the clustering results can be visualized and
evaluated. Moreover, it will be shown how the clustering results
can be used to identify outliers in the data set. We also cover
techniques that reduce the dimension of the data so that the
segments can be computed either on aggregated information or using
only a subset of the available information. The course puts an
emphasis on the practical application and therefore showcases all
concepts on an insurance data set.
Your early-bird registration fee is € 100.00 plus 19% VAT until 14
October 2021. After this date, the fee will be € 140.00 plus 19%
VAT.
