Web Session: "Macro-Level Actuarial
Reserving Models" on 20/21 October 2022, 9:00-17:00 &
9:00-12:30 CEST |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Over time, the
understanding of all the assumptions behind the typically used
reserving models can have grown a bit stale, and more recent
developments might not have percolated all the way to the
day-to-day practice. This web session will help the participants to
overcome this.
The most widely used deterministic macro-level models, such as the
Chain Ladder and the Bornhuetter-Ferguson model, will be discussed
in full detail during this web session, but also stochastic
macro-level models, such as the OverDispersed Poisson model or ODP
model for example, will be covered. This entails a proper freshing
up of the underlying assumptions and how the model is estimated,
but also checks on determining if the chosen model is appropriate
for the data at hand, and under which circumstances one should go
for one type of macro-level model or the other.
In this web training a detailed overview is provided of the
aforementioned models and during the practical sessions, R code is
provided on how to implement most of the discussed topics, hereby
rendering the participants completely autonomous after the
webinar.
Your early-bird registration fee is € 450.00 plus 19% VAT until 8
September 2022. After this date, the fee will be € 585.00 plus 19%
VAT.

Web Session: "Whistleblowing - Practical
Education for Actuaries" on 24 October 2022, 9:30-17:00
CEST |
|
|
|
|
|
|
The purpose of this web
session is to prepare actuaries for situations where they might
need to speak up or blow the whistle.
A natural part of professional actuarial work is dealing with
conflicts and dilemmas. The web session is a mixture of theory,
practical examples and lessons from others who have blown the
whistle.
The web session will include breakout sessions to discuss
materials covered and to enable participants to share their own
experiences.
Your early-bird registration fee is € 300.00 plus 19% VAT until 12
September 2022. After this date, the fee will be € 400.00 plus 19%
VAT.

|
|
|
|
The learning objectives
of this course are:
- Match the changed environment to risk management frameworks
including policies, activities and processes
- Understand the concept of change modes (going concern - crisis,
and states in between) and corresponding actions (risk management,
operational resilience)
- Learn about opportunities to enhance the effectiveness and
efficiency of an Enterprise Risk Management Framework
- Gain insight in a company's culture and the levers for changing
a culture
Your early-bird registration fee is € 600.00 plus 19% VAT until 14
September 2022. After this date, the fee will be €780.00 plus 19%
VAT.

Web Session: "Resilience for Actuaries" on
2-4 November 2022, 9:00-13:30 CET |
|
|
|
|
|
|
For more than two years
now, we have involuntarily found ourselves often in unknown
territory, maybe even too often! Things that had never been
imagined in any scenario analysis did happen. We needed and still
need to quickly adapt to an ever-changing environment as we don't
know what the future holds for us. While trying to juggle with all
that adaptation, it also means that "business as usual" needs to
get done.
Needless to say, that "business as usual" can also bring its share
of challenges and stress with time-consuming projects (e.g. IFRS
17), ad-hoc queries and analyses and back-to-back meetings.
While actuaries are experts at quantifying risk and uncertainty in
their sleep, being awake in the new normal can bring its load of
(new) uncertainties that can't be quantified but need to be managed
at a personal level. To build resilience is like to build a robust
internal re-assurance program for you! You'll be in a better
position to absorb shocks and volatility, even when things seem out
of control.
Your early-bird registration fee is € 600.00 plus 19% VAT until 21
September 2022. After this date, the fee will be €780.00 plus 19%
VAT.

Web Session: "Machine Learning: More Art
than Science?" on 8 November 2022, 9:00-12:00 CET |
|
|
|
|
|
|
The notion of machine
learning is truly omnipresent in these days. In this web session we
thus give participants an introduction to this interesting field
and show machine learning techniques. We learn how we are able to
implement a workflow and give an overview of several methods such
as random forest, gradient boosting, and neural networks. A vital
step of machine learning algorithms is the development and training
phase of models, in particular, in order to build up powerful
applications. Do machine learning models have to be black box
applications or are we able to bring light into the darkness? This
is a vital question from a practical point of view, which we answer
in this web session. Companies are concentrating more and more on
using machine learning for several applications, and, therefore, it
is important to have a closer look at the current regulatory
requirements.
By focusing on all these aspects of machine learning, we give
practical examples from the insurance and banking industry: we
provide Python codes such that participants directly see how
machine learning workflows can be implemented.
Your early-bird registration fee is € 150.00 plus 19% VAT until 27
September 2022. After this date, the fee will be € 205.00 plus 19%
VAT.

Web Session: "Solvency II Internal Models:
Which Techniques for A New Wave?" on 9 November 2022, 10:00-12:00
CET |
|
|
|
|
|
|
In the context where
further new capital models are under recent development, especially
in Europe under Solvency II, the aim of this web session is to
provide an overview of the recently developed modelling techniques
related to the derivation of full distributions for the calculation
of the capital requirement within Internal Models.
The web session will provide a specific emphasis on enhancements
of the Least Square Monte Carlo (LSMC) method, including refining
their calibration and validation, as well as the development of the
so-called Multi-Level Monte Carlo (MLMC) method, allowing for a
smart allocation of the inner and outer simulations in any Nested
Simulation approach.
Your early-bird registration fee is € 100.00 plus 19% VAT until 28
September 2022. After this date, the fee will be € 140.00 plus 19%
VAT.
