Web Session 'Generative AI Crash Course for Actuaries'

on 17 January 2025

Artificial intelligence (AI) has been revolutionizing various industries, and the actuarial field is no exception. Generative AI, in particular, has the potential to transform the way actuaries work by enabling them to generate new data, models, and insights. With the advancement of Generative AI techniques, actuaries now have access to powerful tools that can enhance their predictive modeling capabilities, automate repetitive tasks, improve data quality, and improve the accuracy of risk assessments.

Through this course, actuaries will learn about the fundamental concepts of generative models, including Transformers, Variational Autoencoders, Generative Adversarial Networks, Large Language Models, and Diffusion Models. They will also explore real-world applications of these models in the actuarial field, such as knowledge base Q&A, modelling coding assistance, data augmentation through synthetic data or feature engineering, fraud detection & object detection, and named entity recognition.

Web Session 'ESG-Washing Risk Management'

on 21 January 2025

Increasing market pressure for organizations to accelerate delivery of sustainable strategies has sometimes led to misrepresentation of achievements in the Sustainability domain, or ESG-washing allegations.

Regulators are increasingly scrutinizing organizations for mis-selling or misrepresentation of sustainable outcomes promised in products and investments and have now started to establish regulations and guidelines to ensure disclosures and sustainability commitments are justified and validated by organizations.

The purpose of this session will be to highlight how the ESG-washing looks like, what possible source could be, and what approaches insurance entities can implement to integrate ESG-washing risk in their ERM.

Web Session 'Adding Value Through Risk Measurement: Capital Allocation & Beyond'

on 29 January 2025

Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of two techniques for allocating aggregate capital to business units or individual risks that are valuable for risk assessment and business management.

Using R, we provide a practical case study on the (often challenging) estimation of gradient capital allocation and Orthogonal Convexity Scenarios using kernel estimation methods, providing in-depth guidance on how to apply the two methods in practice.
