Web Session 'Generative AI Crash Course for
Actuaries' |
|
|
|
|
Artificial intelligence (AI) has been revolutionizing
various industries, and the actuarial field is no exception.
Generative AI, in particular, has the potential to transform the
way actuaries work by enabling them to generate new data, models,
and insights. With the advancement of Generative AI techniques,
actuaries now have access to powerful tools that can enhance their
predictive modeling capabilities, automate repetitive tasks,
improve data quality, and improve the accuracy of risk
assessments.
Through this course, actuaries will learn about the fundamental
concepts of generative models, including Transformers, Variational
Autoencoders, Generative Adversarial Networks, Large Language
Models, and Diffusion Models. They will also explore real-world
applications of these models in the actuarial field, such as
knowledge base Q&A, modelling coding assistance, data
augmentation through synthetic data or feature engineering, fraud
detection & object detection, and named entity
recognition.

Web Session 'ESG-Washing Risk Management' |
|
|
|
|
Increasing market pressure for organizations to
accelerate delivery of sustainable strategies has sometimes led to
misrepresentation of achievements in the Sustainability domain, or
ESG-washing allegations.
Regulators are increasingly scrutinizing organizations for
mis-selling or misrepresentation of sustainable outcomes promised
in products and investments and have now started to establish
regulations and guidelines to ensure disclosures and sustainability
commitments are justified and validated by organizations.
The purpose of this session will be to highlight how the
ESG-washing looks like, what possible source could be, and what
approaches insurance entities can implement to integrate
ESG-washing risk in their ERM.

Web Session 'Volatility Adjustment under Solvency
II' |
|
|
|
|
This session aims at explaining the evolution of the
Volatility Adjustment (VA) under the current formula versus the new
formula following the SII review and how the deficiencies have been
addressed. We also focus on how to manage basis risk coming from
the VA as part of the ORSA.
Topics:
- Purpose of the VA
- Current formula
- The reasons for changes
- The new VA
- Sources of VA over/undershooting
- Managing VA basis risk in ORSA
- Extra Actuarial thoughts

Techniques, Ethics, Impact' |
|
|
|
|
In this online training attendees are given a
comprehensive overview of the pricing process, highlighting the
strategic role of price optimisation. The session delves into the
construction of demand models, emphasizing their benefits in
predicting customer behaviour. Participants learn about the
mechanics of price optimisation and its significant value and
impact on business outcomes. The web session also addresses
important ethical and regulatory considerations to ensure
responsible pricing strategies. The event concludes with a survey
and an interactive Q&A session, allowing for participant

Web Session 'A Machine Learning Approach to Best
Estimate Assumption Setting: Life Insurance Case Study' |
|
|
|
|
This web session will explore how Python's Machine
Learning libraries and Explainable AI (XAI) techniques can be used
to enhance best estimate assumption setting in life insurance.
Attendees will gain an understanding of the intersection between
Machine Learning, XAI, and actuarial science, with a focus on
practical applications and real-world case studies.
Topics:
- An introduction to Machine Learning concepts relevant to life
insurance assumption setting.
- Demonstration of Python libraries for exploratory data analysis
and model building.
- Step-by-step guidance on building, training, and validating
predictive models for assumption setting.
- Techniques to mitigate against overfitting
- Evaluation metrics to assess model performance
- Explainable AI techniques to ensure transparency and
interpretability of Machine Learning models.
- Examples of successful implementations in assumption
setting.
- Best practices and common pitfalls in integrating Machine
Learning and XAI into actuarial processes.

Web Session 'Adding Value Through Risk Measurement:
Capital Allocation & Beyond' |
|
|
|
|
Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of
two techniques for allocating aggregate capital to business units
or individual risks that are valuable for risk assessment and
business management.
Using R, we provide a practical case study on the (often
challenging) estimation of gradient capital allocation and
Orthogonal Convexity Scenarios using kernel estimation methods,
providing in-depth guidance on how to apply the two methods in
practice.
