Subject: Updated IAA Risk Book Chapter on Distribution Risks
The Insurance Regulation Committee is pleased to publish the
updated chapter in the IAA Risk Book on Distribution Risks. This latest
chapter of the Risk Book provides the reader with an understanding
of what distribution risks are and how they can impact the business
of insurance. These risks are inherent in the delivery of insurance
products to policyholders and should be considered key elements of
the risk management process of an insurer.
The IAA Risk Book, developed and maintained by the IAA Insurance
Regulation Committee, provides high-quality reference materials to
help readers better understand how actuaries contribute to the
assessment and management of risks and inherently uncertain future
outcomes often in the financial services (insurance, investment,
pension etc.) but also more broadly.
The Risk Book is written to be accessible to a wide range of
readers, many of whom may not be actuaries or experts in the areas
discussed but may be decision-makers in those areas. Consequently,
the Risk Book provides insight into the ideas and concepts behind
actuarial topics and concepts and is therefore focused on being
descriptive rather than being formal and mathematically
precise.
The Risk Book is intended to be a dynamic and evolving resource,
updated over time, reflecting new areas where actuarial expertise
can add value, experience and advances, and topics of current
interest and importance.
Please visit the IAA website (IAA Risk Book) for more information regarding
the IAA Risk Book.
