Join us on Thursday 14 December 2017 |
8:00am - 9:30am GMT (4:00pm - 5:30pm Singapore time) |
Hosted by the International Actuarial Association Health Section (IAAHS) and the Singapore Actuarial Society (SAS), this will be the last webinar of year in the IAAHS "Global Perspectives on Long-Term Care" series. The webinar will also be simultaneously conducted as a live forum for SAS members (who otherwise have the option of registering for the online webcast). Worldwide demand for Long-Term Care (LTC) is expected to
increase significantly in the coming decades because of longevity
increases and advances in technologies and treatment. Countries
around the world will need to develop more comprehensive strategies
to address challenges associated not only with financing LTC but
also with delivering services and support and meeting the needs of
both beneficiaries and providers/caregivers. Presenters will explore some of the following perspectives on LTC from Singapore and Australia: Singapore, Choo Oi San will introduce the history of establishing ElderShield in Singapore, and how it is operated. She will also discuss the role of actuaries in ElderShield, and share us with the recent updates on the ElderShield review in Singapore. The ElderShield Scheme is Singapore's national disability scheme that was first introduced in 2002 and had its first reform in 2007. The 2017 review will be the scheme's second review. Australia, Sarah Johnsontalk will start with the history to establishing a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Australia. She will introduce how the NDIS is operating in Australia, and the role of actuaries in the NDIS. Sarah will share her view on measurement of the scheme's outcomes |
