Global AI Resources for Actuaries: IAA GitHub and ‘AIforActuaries’

Global AI Resources for Actuaries: IAA GitHub and AIforActuaries

Artificial Intelligence continues to enrich actuarial work, and actuarial associations are responding by building shared, practical resources. Two key global initiatives in this space are the International Actuarial Association (IAA) AI Task Force GitHub and the AIforActuaries platform, both designed to help actuaries understand, experiment with, and adopt AI professionally.

The IAA AI Task Force maintains dedicated GitHub repositories that bring together practical AI case studies and hands-on tools for actuaries. These repositories showcase real-world applications of machine learning, (Gen-)AI and related technologies, supported by documentation, examples, and working code:

In parallel, AIforActuaries provides a broader learning and exchange platform, offering curated content, discussion, and insights on how AI can be applied in actuarial practice:

The AAE actively supports these initiatives by contributing content, sharing European perspectives, and helping to curate and promote selected updates. Going forward, the AAE will regularly highlight new and relevant additions to the IAA AI Task Force GitHub repositories and AIforActuaries, making it easier for members to discover practical examples, tools, and learning opportunities that can be applied in everyday actuarial work.

AAE members are encouraged to explore these resources, use them in practice, and contribute their own case studies or tools. By sharing knowledge across associations and regions, we can collectively strengthen the actuarial profession’s responsible and effective use of AI.

Organised under the leadership of the AAE Insurance Committee, the session featured insights from Arjen Prinsen (De Nederlandsche Bank), Mike Claffey (Milliman), and IC Chair, Lauri Saraste, moderated by Stephanos Hadjistyllis. The discussion covered key technical aspects of IRRD, practical implications for the profession, and areas where actuarial expertise plays a critical role.
