While the whole of humanity has been going though very
challenging times in the last years, "business as usual" needed to
get done. Needless to say, this "business as usual" can also bring
its share of challenges and stress with time-consuming projects
(e.g. IFRS 17), ad-hoc queries and analyses and back-to-back
meetings.
While actuaries are experts at quantifying risk and uncertainty in
their sleep, being awake in what has become the "new normal" can
bring its load of (new) uncertainties that can't be quantified but
need to be managed at a personal level. To build resilience is like
to build a robust internal re-assurance program for you! You'll be
in a better position to absorb shocks and volatility, even when
things seem out of control.
The Resilience for Actuaries course is an interactive training
course that ensures that the concepts presented are immediately
applied through various exercises whether individually or in small
groups. It is designed to give you a solid foundation on the topic
of resilience to increase your own and even transmit that knowledge
to your colleagues or team.
The particular requirements and demands on actuaries and the work
you do have considerably increased, which can lead to overwhelm,
stress and a sense that meaning is lacking. This is an important
aspect when considering resilience from a work perspective.
While personal resilience includes looking at work-related issues,
it also necessitates to look at the other aspects of your life. The
course will give you the opportunity to reflect on the bigger
picture, to identify important areas of improvement and to
implement the needed habits or changes. A small change can make a
huge difference and the work of building and increasing resilience
will continue even after the course.
At the end of the course, you will know exactly what to implement
in your life for more resilience, more confidence and less stress.
You may even start to thrive in challenging environments!
